For all on-site Walt Disney World® Guests, MagicBands and Fastpass+ reservations will be a big part of your Disney Experience.  For offsite guests, you will not get MagicBands, but you will be able to utilize Fastpass+, but only within the park at kiosks only.  Here is a quick overview of how to set up your MyDisneyExperience Account and reserve your Fastpass+!

Start My Disney Experience

The first thing you will need to do is set up a My Disney Experience account.  If you booked your trip with me, you already have one set up for you.  If you didn’t it is easy – all you need is an email address and a password you create.  My Disney Experience is a website and app that will help you plan your Walt Disney World® vacation.  The mobile app gives you access to current attraction wait times, allows you to update plans, provides helpful navigation, and offers tips and suggestions on things to do based on where you are in the parks.

Go to https://disneyworld.disney.go.com, and then in the upper right hand corner you will see “Sign In or Create Account”.  From there you will fill out your demographic information and answer a few questions and an account will be created.  You can then click on “My Disney Experience” and “My Reservations” and link your resort reservation and any dining reservations you may have.  Again, if you booked through me, all of this will already be set up for you.

Customize Your Bands & Verify Shipping Address

Go straight to ‘Personalize Magic Bands.’ You get to pick a color for each member of your party (Pink, Green, Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue and Grey are the options), and enter in the name that they like to be called. This is a cool feature because if you’ve got a “Jonathan” listed on your reservation, but he everyone calls him  “Jon,” you can enter his nick-name on the Magic Band.  There is a 9-character limit on the bands, so hopefully those of you with long names have a good nickname to use.  You can also leave the name blank if you wish, or pick a Disney-inspired name for your kids if you don’t want their real name anywhere on the bands.  It’s totally up to you.

Here, you will also confirm your shipping address. If you do not provide an address (or there isn’t enough time to ship them to you), your Magic Bands will be there waiting for you when you check-in.  Magic Bands will eventually replace the Key to the World Card – and will be your room key, tickets, FastPass+ and room charging vehicle.  (At this point during testing, you will still get both the Magic Bands as well as your Key to the World Card.)

HINT:  Once you personalize your Magic Bands, they will be set to be shipped within 24 hours – so make all of your customization in one shot.  They will arrive at your house in this really cool packaging!

Make Your FastPass+ Selections

Next, click on “Make Fast Pass+ Selections.” This is where you will be able to pre-select and make “reservations” for some of the most popular rides and activities in all of Disney World – so no more running to the Toy Story Mania FASTPASS booth the second the park opens!  Here is how it works:  choose the day that you’d like to make selections for  and click “next.”

Now choose the park you’d like to visit on that day, then hit “next.”  You will only be able to choose FASTPASS+ (FP+) selections in one park per day.  The system  will ask you to select your party members for FP+ choices, in most cases you’ll want to “Select All” – but there may be a ride that just a few of you want to go on while the rest of your group goes elsewhere (for example teens on Space Mountain while the little ones go on Tomorrowland Speedway).  You’ll now be asked to select 3 Attractions/Entertainment options from the list that you’d like to experience  If you don’t know which rides to pick, you can select the button call “FastPicks” – this option will select attractions for you.  Some of my favorite ones are the parade and fireworks options – there is nothing better than a front row view of the Main Street Electric Parade, or a close up spot for Wishes!  Here are the Fastpass+ options:

Please Note:  The number of FP+ available per Guest is also based on the number of days of tickets.  You may see this warning if you have reserved your total allotment:  This Guest currently has the maximum number of FastPass+ selections that can be confirmed based on the number and type of tickets associated to their MyDisneyExperience account. If new FastPass+ selections are made for this day, you will be given the opportunity to trade them for another set of previously confirmed FastPass+ selections.

The next screen will give you four options of arrival time groupings called “Best Match,” “Option A,” “Option B” and “Option C.” The options are grouped based on the time of day.  You may choose which grouping of Disney-selected time frames best fit your schedule.  Don’t worry, you will be able to go back in and change ones that don’t fit your plans perfectly.

NOTE:  Although your dining reservations are in My Disney Experience, currently any Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or Pirates League reservations are not, so keep that in mind when reserving your times.

Adjusting  FP+ Selections

The last step is a confirmation screen with your selected attractions. You will then be given the option to adjust one or more of your FP+ times or even the attractions you selected. To do this, just select the ride/attraction you want to adjust, choose what you want to change (time or attraction itself) and then select the people effected.   Next, you can plan another day, fix something else, click on “My Disney Experience” to see what you have planned so far, or even log out. You can always come back later and change your FastPass+ selections or time frames. As of right now you are allowed to make FP+ selections for 30 days prior to your check-in date, but this too may change once the whole system goes live.

I am SOO excited that you’ll be customizing our disney vacation!! I can’t wait for February!!

  2. Lisa says:

What type of priority seating do you get for the parades? Is it worth using a FP+?

    • Cheryl says:

You get to be in the Central Viewing Plaza up by the castle for the parades, and if you have a FP+ for the Main Street Electrical Parade, they don’t make you leave afterwards, so you also have a prime spot to watch Wishes! So in my opinion, it is a toss up for the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade (there are lots of good viewing spots for that one) but with the added bonus of Wishes, I do think that it is worth it for the evening parade! Hope this helps!

  3. Tom says:

My wife and I are leaving for Disney on Monday! We have our magic bands but I was wondering at what point do you set up your credit card info and pin number for the bands? I’m seeing a lot of posts where people say they had to enter a pin number after purchases. Is this done at the hotel we’re staying at?

    • Cheryl says:

You can do on-line check in before you go, and you can set up your PIN number then, or you will be asked to set one up at check-in at the hotel if you haven’t done it beforehand. The PIN is only used for purchases over a certain amount. Have a great trip!!

  4. How do you set up the fastpass+ for a parade or wishes? I am able to set up fastpass+ but not for those, I’m confused. Thank you.

    • Cheryl says:

They can be set up the same way, but they are not always available. Since there are only specific times for the parades and fireworks, the Fastpass+ reservations go quickly. But keep looking, you never know what will pop up!

      • thank you! It just became available for me to book them yesterday so I was trying to be quick about it. It still wont let me customize the magic bands, I click on it and it says I need to link but I purchased a package so there isn’t anything to link! This system will be nice once they get all the kinks out!

      • Thank you! I just gained the access yesterday for the fastpass+ (been checking for like a month!) so I was trying to get everything! It keeps prompting me to customize the magic bands but when I click it, it says I need to link my tickets, but I bought a package and they are showing, so I don’t know what that is about! Guess just some glitches. It will be nice once they are all worked out! I appreciate your help 🙂

  5. Nicole says:

Do you know how early one must arrive at the FP+ reserved area for the MSEP? If we could show up 20 minutes before parade time, it would definitely be worth it for my family (with 2, 4 and 6 year old kids) to use one of our designated FPs for this. If we have to show up an hour ahead, it’s not really saving us any time (that’s how early we would line up anyway), so I don’t think it’s worth using one of our 3 passes. Any thoughts?

    • Cheryl says:

They give you a range of time to show up, but I believe it is about 15 minutes before the parade, so it is definitely worth it! We used a FP+ for Fantasmic the other night, got there about 20 minutes before the show and walked right in.
